Homemade Light Table

Homemade Light Table

Christmas Lights inside a clear storage container (with lid)

Learning Dots + Light Table = endless fun

I keep coming across homemade light tables on Pinterest. Some are super involved and, honestly, just too much work for me. But lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of homemade light tables made with clear plastic storage containers and a variety of lights – some have flashlights inside, some have those “click it” lights, and today I’ve been seeing Christmas lights. Hey! I have Christmas lights! =) This evening when our day calmed down and Lorelai was getting bored, I quickly put this together with one of our craft supply boxes.

I laid a few un-laminated thermal sheets on top so that the christmas lights below wouldn’t be too obvious. If you don’t have any of those, a thin piece of printer paper or even wax paper will probably work.

Anyway, so that was our little “project” for the day. Lorelai had a lot of fun spelling out her name with the dots, layering them to make new colors, etc. In the last picture above, you can kind of see the “L o r” start of her name. =)

I hope everyone has had a great weekend! I made this awesome preschool printable set that I will share tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Those sheets are a great idea, it looks great and I love how easy it is! I’ll be spreading the word.

Thank you for sharing this idea. I used to work at another school and I had a nice light table. I doubt I will ever have enough money to purchase one – but, this I can do! I can’t wait to do this!
