Fun 4th of July Craft for Kids!

We did another 4th of July craft today, this time a cute star-spangled headband. We’ve done several headband crafts in the past and they have always been a huge hit. In fact, Lorelai was running around the other day, wearing her reindeer headband from last Christmas.

This will probably be the last of our 4th of July crafts since we have a busy weekend ahead. I might be able to squeeze one more in on Sunday, but I can’t guarantee it. Have a great weekend and a happy 4th, everyone!

Materials We Used:

  • 1 Piece of Cardstock
  • 3 Pieces of Construction Paper – 1 red, 1 blue, 1 white
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pen (to draw/trace star first)
  • Glitter (optional)

Cut out the stars first. You can do this easily by layering the construction paper, drawing a simple star on top, and then cutting them out. Make it even easier on yourself by folding the three pieces a few times – the more you fold, the more stars at once. (Though, it is harder to cut if you fold a lot since it’s so thick.)

For the headband, fold your piece of cardstock in half. Use your scissors to cut a band across the long side. The two pieces will be taped together to fit your child’s head. Yes, you can use glue, but I prefer tape so that we don’t have to wait as long for the glue to dry. Plus, it really closes up spaces/lines between the two pieces of cardstock. Hope that makes sense. It’s actually really easy to DO. 🙂

Then just let your child glue and decorate. I added another “USA” with glitter on the front to spruce it up a bit.

Allow to dry and voila! A Star-Spangled Headband that your child can proudly wear to your 4th of July celebration/party/fireworks.

I think my kiddos will like making this a lot. I will gladly give you credit should we get to make it. 🙂 Happy 4th to you! Thanks again!
