Homemade Fridge Magnets & Number Flashcards

I can’t believe it’s Friday already! This week has seriously flown by. We have been busy doing playdates, having fun at indoor playgrounds, and getting settled in our new apartment. We still have some kitchen stuff that needs to be resolved, and there are 4 packed boxes of small kitchen appliances and whatnot sitting in the dining area. One thing I can’t stand about the appliances here is that they are so outdated. Our new front-loader washer and dryer are almost as tall as the crappy little fridge we have. And don’t get me started on the dishwasher. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before, but the people who lived here before us were disgusting slobs. The front of the fridge is nicked and dented and just pretty much an eyesore, and since it still works, our landlord said she won’t replace it.

Which brings us to today’s craft. More of a ‘Mommy’ craft than anything… Homemade fridge magnets! There are two sets that I’ve seen in stores – one really inexpensive set that’s made in China and likely led-ridden. The other set is the leapfrog one, which we previously had, that is pretty spendy. Being the freak that I am, I decided that our next set was going to be homemade. It was so easy to do and only took about 30 minutes to do. (Note: Our letters are blue because we are out of black ink. Everything is printing blue at the moment.)

Directions: Print the alphabet sheet above. Laminate. Cut out letters (see our cutter below). Using a hot glue gun, glue magents onto the back of each letter. Voila! Easy peasy.

Above is my craft paper cutter thing. I’m not sure what it’s called exactly, but it’s really priceless when it comes to projects like this. Simply stick the paper in, line up where you want to cut, and ziiiiiiip in a second, you have a straight cut line. Can’t beat it! Here is one on Amazon that’s similar. Check your Michaels/Hobby Lobby/Walmart first. I’m pretty sure mine was only $5 and it works fine.

I also made these mini number flashcards for Lorelai. Numbers 1-20. I was going to cut them out, but decided to just leave it as a whole sheet. Print below.
