Paper Roll Bat Craft

How cute is this craft?! I saw it on a friend’s facebook and had to steal the idea (thanks, Amanda!). Lorelai was sitting next to me when I was scrolling through pictures and she immediately decided that she had to do this one. She loves our craft time. =)

Halloween Bat Craft for Kids

Painting the wings & body

Materials We Used:

  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Cardstock (for wings)
  • Black Paint
  • Googly Eyes
  • Glitter Glue or White & Red Paint (for mouth/fangs)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Marker or Crayons to draw wings on the paper

Directions:
On the piece of cardstock, hand draw 2 bat wings. I laid the toilet paper roll down and went from there so I could get an idea of how big they should be. Next, have your child paint the toilet paper roll and the wings black. Allow to dry completely, then cut out the wings and glue down onto the sides of the paper roll. Glue down googly eyes and paint on the mouth (or glitter glue it on, as we did). Lay flat and allow to dry.

Note: I wasn’t crazy about the glitter glue for the mouth and fangs. It dripped a lot and didn’t look very scary – I think the paint would definitely work better.

Also, if you don’t have cardstock on hand, any paper will do… even the cardboard from a cereal box! The wings don’t look great in my pic above because they were still wet when I glued them on and the paper was weak, so definitely allow them to dry completely!
