{ Homemade Tic-Tac-Toe Game: 100 Days of Play }

I have taken the challenge of 100 days of play with my daughter! The challenge is to play and connect with your children everyday while doing something they love.

My daughter is 5.5, and her favorite way to play right now is through games. Board games, card games, pretend games… you name it, she loves it. I have been saving this simple homemade game for this blog hop and am excited to share!

Tic-Tac-Toe is one of the many games Lorelai enjoys playing. I have an app on my phone that she’s constantly on, so it only makes sense to de-screen it in a fun and cute way. While playing tic-tac-toe on paper IS fun, I thought playing it with rocks would be that much more fun… and I was right! We played countless games yesterday afternoon after making our simple rock letters!

ttt1 Start with 10 flat-ish, cleaned rocks. I just rinsed the excess dirt off of ours.

021 Have your child paint with acrylic paint. Note: this paint stains, but is the best paint for the job. Lore chose pink and purple, but you can do any colors – she probably would have done rainbow colors, but I’m out of most!

033 Allow to dry…

119 Once dry, paint on the X’s and O’s. You could just do marker if you don’t want to wait for paint to dry again!

120 Now it’s time to PLAY!!!

134 I drew the tic-tac-toe grid on a piece of cardstock. You could play it on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. Or you could even play on a dry erase board.

156 No matter how you do it, it’s bound to be fun. =)

So that’s my contribution to the 100 Days of Play blog hop! I hope you get the chance to try out this fun “craftivity” sometime; it’s a favorite here! I also highly recommend you checking out the other contributors below… they are putting up some fun stuff!

  4. My daughter would love making her own tic-tac-toe game! I like how you choose rocks and painted them. It makes it a craft project too! Maybe we will use different things we find on our nature walks. Stopping by from 100 days of play. Thanks for sharing the great idea!
