Homemade Noise Maker Maraca

Homemade Noise Maker!
The cups taped together & Lorelai decorating them with stickers

All credit of this craft goes straight to Lorelai. We used some new plastic cups as paint cups this morning and she said, “Mommy! We can make noise-makers with these. Just put some rice in the middle and decorate it! Just like in Barney.” With that kind of enthusiasm, I couldn’t say no. =) This was very simple and needs minimal materials. We did some maracas recently – paper roll maracas. They turned out really cute. But, there’s something to be said for using clear cups. I wish I’d been awake enough to dye the rice first so that it would be more colorful, but this works.

Materials We Used:

  • 2 plastic cups (I used small, clear ones)
  • Rice
  • Packing Tape
  • Stickers to decorate (optional)

What We Did:

  1. Fill one cup halfway with rice or dried beans.
  2. Lay the other cup on top and tape securely, as shown in the photo above.
  3. Decorate!

See? VERY easy!! Enjoy!
