Bald Eagle Handprint Craft

Patriotic Bald Eagle Craft for Kids

Hi, hello there. Remember me? It’s been a while, but I’m back! Lorelai and I got our craft on this morning and made a handprint bald eagle craft. I think it turned out really cute, and it’s sooo easy to do.

Showing how the hands should be painted

Materials We Used:

  • 1 Paper Plate (or paper if you wish)
  • Paint: Brown, White, Orange, Black (Blue and Red Optional)
  • Paintbrushes

Directions:
Paint the palm and fingers (don’t do the thumb) brown on one hand. Once you’ve got a good coating, press your child’s hand down onto the paper plate. Make sure it’s about halfway down the plate, or else it’ll be too far down/up like ours. Repeat for the second hand, taking care to overlap the palm areas a bit. Clean your child’s hand, then get them to make a fist with one of their hands. Paint the outside area near the pinky white. (See picture above) Press down above the brown “wings” to make the head. Then paint 4 fingers white and press down for the tail feathers. Ours didn’t come out too well, so I just got her to paint over it.

Outline the head and tail feathers in black (lightly) if desired. I couldn’t see the head too well against the white paper plate, so I went ahead and did it. Paint a black eye on (or use a googly eye), and you’re done!

I let her put red and blue decoration around the outside to make it more festive. She used a round sponge brush. A regular paintbrush will work, too!
