Recycled materials are always fun to craft with. I collect paper towel and tissue paper rolls, bottle caps, cereal boxes (broken down), old magazines, and more. No, I’m not a hoarder. I have a small box under my kitchen sink that I keep filled with materials we can turn into a craft. I came up with this craft a few weeks ago when my husband came home with ice cream from a local fast food joint. They gave him a cardboard cup holder, and instead of throwing it away, I looked at the designs in the cup holder and thought it would make a good flower – and it did! I pulled out the materials last night and cut apart the cup holder. Then this morning, Lore and I turned them into flowers. Materials You’ll Need:
1 Cardboard Cupholder (the molded kind)
Scissors
Paint
Cereal box (for stems and leaves)
Glue
Tape (optional)
Any decorative material (optional)
Directions:
Carefully cut your cardboard cup-holder apart. You will use everything but the very center. Round out the edges on each “flower top”.
Cut out stems and leaves for the cup-holder flower from the cereal box.
Paint all of the pieces
Allow to dry
Glue the leaves to the stems, and then the stems to the cardboard.
My stems wouldn’t glue very well, so I added a piece of tape to secure it a little better.
Allow glue to dry, and admire!
Overall, a fun and easy craft using recycled materials. Ours are now hanging on our patio (as shown in the picture). Where will you put yours?
