Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Craft

Sitting in the kitchen this morning, I decided to do this classic Halloween pumpkin craft with Lorelai. I’m sure everyone has done this craft, or a variation of it, at some point in their lives. I figured doing it would open up the discussion of Halloween and talking about the pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins, and trick or treating. She had a lot of fun doing it. But then again, she loves anything to do with painting and crafting!

The start. You’ll need a paper (or styrofoam) plate, orange paint, and a piece of black construction paper. As with any paper craft, I pre-cut the pieces beforehand so that my little one doesn’t get antsy during the actual doing of the craft. You can cut the mouth however you want – I wanted a toothy happy one so that Lou wouldn’t be scared. =)

I thought I might need glue, but decided to just stick the face pieces onto the wet paint instead of waiting for it to dry.

During clean-up, I gave her a spare piece of black paper and asked her to paint a pumpkin… I totally thought she was just going to fling paint everywhere like she normally does, but this is what she did! I was astounded, lol!
