Paper Roll Owl Craft

October 21, 2011 by Kimberly 1 Comment

Owl – yes, it’s an owl!

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. That looks more like a mutant penguin than an owl, but that’s my fault for choosing black for the toilet paper roll. Lorelai wanted to use gray feathers and me being lazy, didn’t want to mix up gray paint. So a word of advice: don’t use black paint unless you are making a penguin (same basic shape). Aside from the coloring, it’s a pretty cute owl, right? Lorelai was happy with it anyway.

Materials

Materials We Used:

  • Construction Paper – Pink for the belly, orange for the beak
  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Black Paint (any color will work)
  • Googly Eyes
  • Glue
  • 2 Feathers (wings)
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush/cup

Directions: Cut out the belly and beak from the construction paper, set aside. Cut a “V” out of the top of the toilet paper roll (to give the illusion of the owl’s ear tufts). Have your child paint the toilet paper roll and allow to dry. Glue on the googly eyes, wings, beak, and belly. You’re finished! See? Easy!
