It was an extra early morning today and I had to find something to do to help fill out our morning. Lorelai is always up for crafting so that’s what we did! Today we did a paper plate cow, another classic paper plate animal. This one is really simple and only features the head and spotted back. There are other variations of this craft where you can add a tail, legs, udders, etc. We just went the easy route.
Materials We Used:
- 2 Paper Plates
- 2 Pieces of Construction Paper – Black and Pink
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly Eyes (Optional)
- Black Marker
Directions:
Start with your paper plates. If you don’t have a large AND a small paper plate, simply cut the outside off of one of your paper plates – use the inside circle as a guide.
Next, prepare the construction paper. Cut an oval similar to the one shown above out of the pink construction paper. This will be the nose. With the black construction paper, cut out irregular shapes that resemble cow spots, as well as some ears and circular eyes (if you don’t have googly eyes). Cut some pink out to go on top of the ears to give them some depth (as shown).
Then glue everything down, allowing your child to dictate where the spots will go. With your marker, draw on the nose and mouth of the cow, and the eyes if you choose not to use googly eyes or construction paper.
CUTE!
