{ NaNoWriMo 2010 }

Today kicked off day 1 of NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month. During the month of November, participants are challenged to write 50,000 words. I’ve been following NaNoWriMo for years, but only started participating last year. Since writing is one of my top favorite activities (though I rarely make time anymore!), I decided to join in on the fun.

Within 14 days of November last year, I hit 50K. By the end of November, I had 125,000 words, but my novel was still unfinished.

This year I’m participating again with a similar story line. The novel I wrote last year was one of many in a series, and this year I’m writing the next book – well, the new first book. New and improved! Different characters and plot line, it’s similar as I stated, but very different in many aspects. My character is older and more mature, but just as tough. I’m excited to be starting!

My goal for today was 3,000 words and I hit that a few minutes ago. It was hard to write with so many interruptions, but I’m done for now and plan on spending the rest of my evening relaxing with my husband. =)

You can follow my progress on the sidebar. There’s a little ticker that counts my words written!

Any other writers out there?
