Butterbeer. The famous drink featured in the Harry Potter book series.
Two words: Liquid. Candy.
At least with this recipe, it is sweetness overload. I (who, in general, likes sweet stuff) could only take 2 sips. When measuring out the butterscotch, I became skeptical. That syrup is sooo sweet, and that 1/2 cup measuring cup looked huge when putting the two together. No, it wasn’t *that* bad, but I think I’ll stick to hot chocolate for a cold-weather treat.
I did a bit of surfing and found a few other recipes that claim to be considerably less candy-like. I might try them after I get to the dentist to fix the 15 different cavities this one gave me! Ha!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
- ½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
- ½ tablespoon butter
Directions:
Step 1: Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 to 1½ minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated.
Step 2: Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit.
Step 3: Serve in two coffee mugs or small glasses; a perfectly warm Hogwarts treat for two!
