Nature Collage Craft

Doing a collage is a fun way to incorporate nature into art time. We did one last year when we were in Maryland. This time, we used contact paper and pressed different leaves, flowers, and other small, flat pieces to the sticky paper. It turned out great! If you don’t have contact paper, construction paper and glue also work well.

Be sure to tape your contact paper to a flat surface. I originally taped it to the siding on the front porch, but then moved it to the front door.

Lorelai picked up twigs and sticks as well, but they were too heavy for our contact paper.

Materials:
2 equal pieces of Contact Paper
Leaves, Flowers, Etc
Scissors
Scotch Tape

Directions

1. Go on a nature walk and have your child collect flowers, leaves, and other bits of nature. You will need a lot for the collage.
2. Peel off one of the backings to the contact paper and tape it (sticky side out) to a wall or big window.
3. Have your child press the objects into the sticky paper.
4. Once he/she is finished, peel off the backing of the other piece of contact paper and press it over the collage. Press out any wrinkles.
5. Cut around the outside until all of the sides are even.
6. You’re done!
