Handprint Santa Craft

Handprint Santa Craft – Ho Ho Ho!

Sigh. I love this easy Handprint Santa Craft! We did this one last year with our playgroup, but I don’t think I ever got around to blogging it. This is very simple and only took a few minutes to do. We painted a paper plate green first so that the Santa would have a nicer backdrop than a plain sheet of construction paper. Check out the directions below:

Materials:

  • Paper Plate, painted (or construction paper)
  • Paint: Red, Tan, White
  • Paintbrushes
  • Googly Eyes
  • Marker
  • Glue

What to do:

  1. Have your child paint their paper plate green. Skip this step if you’re using construction paper.
  2. Paint the middle of your child’s hand tan (from the top part where the fingers meet the palm, to right before the “bump” at the bottom). Quickly paint the fingers white. Paint the bottom bump part of the hand and the thumb red. Add white to the tip of the finger. *NOTE* It’s important that you paint quickly so that the paint doesn’t dry.
  3. Press down onto the dried paper plate (or construction paper).
  4. Wash your child’s hands =)
  5. Touch up by dabbing the paint brush in the empty spots.
  6. Once dry, have your child glue down the eyes.
  7. Next, add the mustache. I let Lorelai use her index finger to add the mustache, but you can do a brush if you don’t want to get your child’s fingers dirty again.
  8. Draw on a smile.
  9. You’re done!

I hope you get around to doing this one with your child. It’s a classic Christmas craft and almost always comes out super cute – even if it’s not perfect! =)
