{ Summer Movies }

One of the great things about summer is all of the blockbusters that are in theaters. My love for movies was pretty much instilled in me thanks to my dad taking us practically every to every-other weekend growing up. The first movie I ever sat through (without falling asleep, ha!) was Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone. Man, was he hot back then.

We haven’t gone too much this summer, but this past week has been packed. Starting off last Thursday, our anniversary. We chose to see Eclipse (over Airbender, since we heard it sucked – poo!) and liked it enough. While I’m so over the whole Twilight craze, I thought the movie was loads better than the others. The actors were more in tune with their characters, so better acting. The movie followed the book really closely as well, which was a nice deviation from most book-to-movie hits. It didn’t hurt that we had a free movie ticket thanks to our rewards program (we have a theater card – whoop!).

Then we saw Inception on Saturday (or maybe it was Sunday? I can’t remember.) which was extremely interesting and thought-provoking. I kept up with the plot until the end, which left me reeling and wondering “WTF!”… I would love to see it again, and can’t wait until it comes out on DVD.

M came home today and announced that he’s taking “his girls” on a date. We went to see Despicable Me (since Lore was with us). Very, very cute movie. I read online that it was the ‘best animated movie ever’ or something to that effect. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that, but it was highly entertaining and hit all of the emotional strings any parent can relate to. Lorelai liked it as well. She was loving the evil minions and would giggle over her popcorn and fruit snacks.

So that’s the low-down of the past week in movie terms. We fixed our big dispute with Directv and they came out to put up another dish (on their dime, not ours). We are, unfortunately, now sporting a bright orange 5-gallon bucket with concrete and a metal pole holding up the dish, which is extended out from our patio so that it will be able to get the right bit of sky. And apparently, a bright orange bucket + concrete + pole = $60. Freaking crooks.

C’est la vie.
