{ Paintings by Lorelai }

It started out as a train...

We have been doing a ton of structured crafts lately. So many that it was a very nice change just to put paint, paint brushes, and card stock in front of Lorelai yesterday just for a change. I told her to paint whatever pictures she wanted and she did! The first (above) started out as a train. You can kind of see the wheels at the bottom. Then she did a rainbow above it, which kind of bled down into the train. She ended up just merging the two so now it’s just this big blob of paint. The sun looks cute, though! 🙂

Funny story about the blue she started to paint beside the sun. I figured they were clouds, so I asked her. She looked at me like I was nuts and said, “It’s not clouds mommy! Clouds are not BLUE. Clouds are white. This is the SKY.” Or something to that effect. It was pretty funny having her correct me. 😛

A bird for Pop Pop.

Then she went on to paint this bird for PopPop (my dad)… I’m pretty sure she didn’t intend for it to be a bird until she turned her head and figured out that the shape was bird-like. Then she went on to paint the beaks and eyes (later covered by googlies).

It’s fun to see what her little imagination will come up with, armed with just paint and paper. I really need to just let her go at it more often. Crafting and doing constructive art projects is indeed fun, but sometimes it’s nice to just let her express herself… completely.

Oh, and I made a new watermark for my images. Yay!
