Turkey Handprint Craft

November 7, 2010 by Kimberly 4 Comments

Saw this craft here and decided to do it with Lore today. She’s been pretty restless today and had a lot of fun making a big mess with paint. The weather is so nice so we headed out onto the patio and let the colors fly. Oh, and we didn’t have any felt in those colors and I’m all about paint, so… =)

Materials Needed:

  • Paper Plate
  • Paint: Yellow, Red, Blue, Orange, Brown, Green
  • 1 Googly Eye (or black paint instead)
  • Paint brushes
  • A hand =P

Get your child to paint the paper plate yellow first. While it dries, paint the palm and fingers of the child’s hand. Be generous with the paint – if you don’t do enough, it won’t show up. I did brown for the body and then alternated colors for the “feathers”. Gently press your child’s hand onto the paper plate and lift before they can wiggle their fingers. Dab a little bit of paint in the spots that didn’t take & then add the red beard and googly eye. We just alternated colors around the rim for decoration ~ fun!
