Printable Mason Jar Craft w/ Fingerprint Bugs

First, a huge thanks to Jordan for suggesting this craft on our Facebook Page a couple of weeks ago. It’s the perfect little project for the upcoming summer season! We visit my folks on the east coast every year for about a month, and while we are there, we are in farm heaven. Fireflies, tadpoles, ants, caterpillars, and tons of other bugs. Lorelai has a “critter box” that my mom got her last year, and she is always finding bugs to put in it. Mason jars are a great alternative! I remember filling them up with lightning bugs (fireflies) and having my dad poke holes in the lid so they could get air. Good memories! =)

So this craft takes me right back to my childhood. Unfortunately, the execution of said craft didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped. The fingerprint bugs were fine, but Lorelai accidentally spilled her silver paint when painting the lid area. (Sidenote: buy some metallic paint! It’s great for projects like this and for just every day painting.) It happens! I just don’t have a ‘display’ picture for here. I created the graphic above so you can get an idea of different fingerprint bugs you can make with your child. The simple fireflies are my favorite, and I know the entire bug isn’t technically yellow. For the other bugs, you might have to wait until they are dry before adding on the little extras.

Print below and enjoy!!
