Melted Crayon Shamrock Art

March 11, 2014 by Kimberly 6 Comments

shamrocks

Last week, I posted about this super fun melted crayon art technique (we did rainbows). Around the same time, we decorated these shamrocks! Since St. Paddy’s day is right around the corner, it was the perfect little activity.

The directions are simple — heat up your candle warmer. While it’s heating up, cut out your shamrock squares. Once the warmer is warm enough, use a crayon to color in the shamrock. Your crayon will melt as you color, making it look like paint. You can use multiple shades of green for a fun effect!

Reader tip: use gloves or socks on your little one’s hands to create an extra layer to help prevent burns. My daughter is 6 and had no trouble with using the candle warmer. Just be careful and supervise your child!!

I hope you get a chance to decorate some shamrocks!! Print above and enjoy!

Where did you find this “candle warmer” I just cannot seem to find any kitchen appliance useful for my almost five year old….? Can you make any suggestions? Even if it’s not the place you purchased from IE find an example on amazon.ca (or .com but I’m Canadian) 😉 Thanks! IF you can!

Large department stores (like Walmart) also carry them near the candles.

Kimberley, I cannot thank you enough! I honestly had my own ideas and search and searched yesterday all over our giant Loblaws SuperStore Home section, coming home empty handed ;( So discouraged. Thank you for bringing this little machine to my attention, since I had never even heard of one! We might put this to a few a different uses! Today, we’ll be hunting at Walmart! Many many thanks for all of your creativity and shares: Happy Weekend!
