Footprint Lobster Craft

Lobster with foot & hand prints

I’m having such a hard time blogging on time these days! We did this one yesterday morning. It took a few tries to get the footprint right because Lorelai kept smearing it, but I think it came out really cute. We talked about the ocean and how some sea animals don’t have fins (crabs, lobsters, etc), so they live on the ocean floor. After doing the handprints, she colored sand and seaweed (her idea) on the paper.

Directions are pretty much self-explanatory on this one. Just start with the footprint, then do the hands, then add the connecting arms. Glue on some googly eyes and color on a mouth. Easy lobster!!

We used craft/tempera paint on cardstock. Construction paper would work; cardstock is just thicker so it holds the paint better.

We had a really busy afternoon yesterday. Lore and I went to a local (huge) park and had lunch in the shade by one of their huge ponds. We stayed there for a while and watched some guys fishing. We went back again in the evening, this time with Lore’s new (cheap) fishing pole. It was windy by that point and the fish weren’t nibbling, but she had fun reeling the line in after a second of it being in the water.

We also went by two playgrounds yesterday and both times Lorelai was pushed around and treated badly. M and I felt SO bad for her. She doesn’t deserve to be treated like that, especially since she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.

Anyway, I’m editing pictures from our little experiment/craft from today. Stay tuned!
