We enjoyed making this savannah collage with the african animals we crafted recently. My 7 year-old was really into this. She helped draw the background, pond, and mountain, and did the majority of the coloring. We used a length of easel paper and then just taped the crafts onto the background. It turned out wonderfully!
African Savannah Animals Round-Up
The Savannah Grasslands of Africa was such a fun biome to “study” with my seven year-old daughter. She came up with the idea of making a bunch of animals from this particular area of the world, and I thought it was a great idea. We sat down and made a big list of animals with […]
African Tribal Masks
Around the World is a section here on LearnCreateLove that I created with the intent to update frequently, and one country at a time. That hasn’t really worked out for us, so now I’m going to share the bits and pieces from different cultures and countries that we’ve made. Today I’m sharing African Tribal Masks. […]
Printable Puzzle: Mexican Flag
I have gotten so behind on our Around the World series as of late. I figured we should get going again and made this simple, 15-piece Mexican Flag Puzzle. The activity itself was a little challenging for Lorelai since I didn’t have an “end” picture for her to go by. There is one on the […]
Texas Printables: Flag & State Outline
Although we are currently in Maryland visiting my family, Lorelai still got a kick out of doing these Texas printables. It honestly didn’t occur to me to make some until SHE asked for them. We were standing in a Bass Pro a few weeks ago and she saw a Texas outline on a sign. “Mommy, […]
Printable Craft: Mexican Folk Art Sun
We have been browsing the internet for Mexican folk art lately, as a nod to our Around the World series. I love the vibrant colors and patterns of traditional Mexican art, and decided to introduce it to Lorelai via this craft. There’s a local shop here that sells authentic Mexican art in this style, but […]
Printable Craft: Day of the Dead Skull
Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. It’s a holiday that honors and brings remembrance to loved ones who have passed. Family members build alters with pictures, candles, and flowers for their loved ones, clean their grave sites, and celebrate the lives […]
{ Mexican Sarape / Poncho Craft }
I have been slacking a bit with our Around the World series as of late. Believe it or not, it’s not easy to pick different parts of a culture and present it into a fun activity… especially if you’ve been completely ignorant of said culture up until now! I really want our studies to be […]
Printable Craft: Painted Lady Butterfly
As we learned while crafting the monarch butterfly, the painted lady also migrates to Mexico for the winter. We have had a lot of interaction with painted lady butterflies as of late. Lorelai’s teacher brought in caterpillars and the class got to watch them go from caterpillar, to chrysalis, to butterfly. The children’s librarian at […]
Printable Craft: Scarlet Macaw
We are still learning about Mexico in our Around the World series. While researching animals of Mexico, the Scarlet Macaw came up. What a beautiful bird! The colors are so vibrant, Lorelai took to it immediately and requested I make a printable. How could I say no? =) Print below and enjoy! Open Scarlet Macaw […]
Printable Craft: Coyote
While researching animals of Mexico, the coyote is one that came up that we hadn’t crafted yet. Since we are currently learning about Mexico in our Around the World series, I thought it would be the perfect time to learn about and craft a coyote. Open Coyote Printable Fun Facts About Coyotes: Coyotes are mammals. […]
Printable Monarch Butterfly Craft
Each year, millions of monarch butterflies migrate south to Mexico for the winter. Like with birds, these butterflies prefer warmer weather, and will stay to enjoy the mild climate for a few months until they make their way back north. After learning that (and explaining how like birds these butterflies are), Lorelai painted, cut out, […]
Printable Mexican Flag & Outline of Mexico
We are starting a new series here on LearnCreateLove.com! It’s called Around the World: Our Explorations into Different Countries, All While at Home! The first country we are learning about is Mexico! Seeing as Cinco de Mayo is just a few weeks away, I thought it would be the perfect time to teach Lorelai about […]
