Beaded Butterfly Art

Lorelai and I were fortunate enough to have some time to do arts and crafts this weekend. When I asked her what she wanted to make, she quickly said, “Butterfly Art!” So butterfly art we made. =)

This project is so simple and straightforward. We used neon pony beads and popsicle sticks (scoop kind), as well as some glue, googly eyes, washi tape (for the border) and a marker. The beads and popsicle sticks were given to us by our friends at CraftProjectIdeas.com!

The directions are so straightforward I’m not even going to bother writing them out. Just glue everything down and be creative! =) NOTE: I wanted to add that gluing beads to paper isn’t very permanent; when you lift the paper after it’s dry, a couple may pop off. We added the washi tape very carefully around the edges and re-glued the couple that came off. Just move carefully and everything should be fine!

Honestly, I think the best thing about this activity is that it took me back to when Lorelai was just a toddler and we frequently glued materials down to cardstock to make pictures. It was her absolute favorite. After we finished this one, she asked if we could do more ‘crafts’ like this one. She also went on to make a couple of other pictures for her sister using the beads.

I hope you get a chance to make some fun beaded butterflies with your child(ren). They will love it! Check out our Butterfly Round-Up Post for more fun butterfly crafts!
