Zebra Shark Printable Craft

endangeredanimals-004
When searching for animals for our Endangered Animals unit, I came across the zebra shark. Though the zebra shark is Threatened and not Endangered, I thought it would be a good addition to the unit. Lorelai was a bit surprised that the ZEBRA shark has spots and not stripes. That’s when I informed her that a shark with stripes is actually called a Tiger shark. =) This craft was very simple. She painted him silver and then dabbed spots on with the other end of the paintbrush. There is only one major shape here, so minimal cutting. Lore did this one all by herself! =) Print below and enjoy! You can see our generic shark craft here.

Facts About Zebra Sharks

  • Zebra sharks live in warm, coastal waters near tropical reefs. They are most commonly found in the Indian & S. Pacific Oceans.
  • They are about 3 meters long and can live up to 30 years in the wild (only 15 in captivity).
  • Zebra sharks feed on small fish, crabs, shrimp, snails, and other small invertebrates like squid and sea snakes.
  • Because of their large size, zebra sharks have few natural predators. Larger sharks, such as tiger & bull sharks, are a threat to them, along with humans, who hunt them for their meat and fins.
