I designed another owl craft the other night while watching the breaking news about Osama. Lorelai had mentioned wanting to do another owl craft, and since doing the exact same craft twice can be boring, I made a new owl that’s a bit different. I meant to do it yesterday, but we were too incredibly busy doing nothing that I forgot. It was nice outside this morning, so we went out onto the patio to do it.
Materials Needed:
- 2 or 3 pieces of Card Stock (2 for printing, one for the background; optional)
- Paint in 4 colors (1 for the body, 1 for the wings & bottom layers of eyes, 1 for flower-eye layer, 1 for beak/feet)
- Googly Eyes (optional)
- Scissors
- Glue
{ Download/Print: Owl Body & Other Parts }
Directions: Print out the two owl sheets above. Paint the owl & parts (see painting guide for help). Once dry, cut out all of the parts and assemble. For the eyes, assemble: large circles down first, flower layer next, then the top layer which can either be the white paper eyes included or googly eyes. Also, on the print-out, I layered the wings left wing/right wing, and that means when you are looking at the owl… not the owl’s left wing, etc. It doesn’t make a huge difference, but I figured I’d throw it out there.
Painting Guide We Used: Body = 1 color. Wings/Round Eyes, Bottom Layer = 1 color. Second/Flower Layer of Eyes = 1 color. Beak/Feet = 1 Color
